Rainbow Route   
The Rainbow Route was a rail line that ran from Silverton to Ironton over Red Mountain Pass just outside the window of the Addie S.  It was built to transport the riches of the area to the smelters.  It was one of the most amazing narrow gauge railroad engineering accomplishments ever.  This is a very complete and definitive work describing the making of this railroad.  Any railroad buff visiting the area should read this book.
