Red Mountain Enterprises L.L.C.
is owned and operated by David and
Karen Dow. We live and work in Grand
Junction Colorado with our four boys.
For many years we have been backcountry voyagers in the
San Juan Mountains. These mountains are arguably some of the most rugged, steep, and beautiful mountains in the country. They are filled with sunny blue days,
unsurpassed scenic beauty, great snow, and alpine splendor.
Steeped
in mining history the ADDIE S
and the MOUNTAIN
BELLE huts are
LOCATED
in the heart of the Red
Mountain Mining District. Both of these cabins
are located on mining claims, claimed
in 1886, then patented, and owned since as private property.
During the summer, the San Juan Mountains provide
endless opportunities for hiking, camping, mountain biking, cycling, climbing,
and mountaineering. Nearby
towns offer an abundance of shopping, galleries, and history. The summer is filled
with Music and Art festivals, and other great family happenings. The
area is also known for its network of four wheel drive roads left over from
mining days. These roads give easy access to many 13,000 foot passes, and
unforgettable alpine
scenery.

THE AREA
The winter brings huge snow falls and great backcountry skiing.
The Red Mountain Pass area
has always been a favorite for Colorado backcountry skiing. At 11,000 feet
the pass gives quick and easy access
to high mountain skiing. Many thousands of acres can be skied in relative
safety. Tree line is 500’ vertical feet, and a mile away. There is terrain for
beginning telemark skiers, to advanced backcountry skiers, from bowls
to trees. Ouray
is also known for its frozen water falls, and the world renown Ouray ice climbing park. There is ski touring on groomed tracks in Ironton park,
and skating on outdoor ice in both Ouray and Silverton
We built these cabins in order to share the scenic
beauty and vast recreational opportunities in this area with our families,
friends, and any one else looking for a great place to vacation. The cabins
were built to be used year round, easily accessed in the
summer and winter from the scenic Million Dollar Highway (Hwy 550).
We hope that you will
find these huts provide you a comfortable and relaxing mountain
experience..
